Aisyiyah is one of the largest Muslim women’s organizations in the world. As an autonomous organization under the Muhammadiyah Association, ‘Aisyiyah is now more than a century old. For a century, it has worked for the people and the nation. ‘Aisyiyah has played a role in raising the status of women through education so that they are equal to men. For more than a century, ‘Aisyiyah has also played a role in building health services that focus on women and their children. ‘Aisyiyah also encourages women’s economic empowerment to increase women’s independence and family economic resilience.
However, the narrative of ‘Aisyiyah for more than a hundred years is still scattered in partial narratives. These narratives are still scattered in the empirical experiences of its figures. Some other narratives are scattered among various organizational decisions, while others are scattered in the explosions of ideas and discourses that build a democratic public sphere in the organization.
With more than 100 years of experience assisting Indonesian women, Aisyiyah has actually accumulated a number of knowledge that contributes to the knowledge sectors that can enrich women’s movements around the world. Therefore, The Aisyiyah Center Universitas Aisyiyah invites researchers, academics, and students from various universities around the world to submit research ideas on Aisyiyah Studies. We provide a number of funds for this research collaboration.
